The article examines an experiment designed to investigate the requirements for successful commercial hydroponics lettuce farming at the Ohio Agricultural and Research Development Center in Wooster, Ohio. It discusses the preliminary experiments of the study, seed germination and seedling transplanting and results of the research. Results indicated that with appropriate growing medium, lettuce yield can potentially increase by 20%, while doubling nutrient solution flow rate can increase yield by 15% and cultivar choice may depend on growing medium.
