Based on the current location of the billet, this article describes the construction of an application to determine the placement of an unloading machine that collects billets from within the rotary hearth furnace. The picture obtained by the video camera must be processed using image filters to decrease noise and eliminate superfluous information from the raw image to determine the contour of the billet. The computation discussed in this work was designed to improve billet evacuation efficiency from a rotating hearth furnace. The scenario when two billets are positioned one after the other on the same axis was considered in this study. The median filtering approach was chosen for image processing since it is a critical function for attaining strong filtering performance at a low cost in the case of the pictures gathered by the video camera. The edges of the billet were detected with the Active contour method. The created program calculates and generates the unloading arm's location for a correct billet grip.
