In this paper, the small-signal model of the direct-drive permanent magnet synchronous generator wind turbine connected to the AC grid is established. The influence of the DC voltage control dynamics on the subsynchronous oscillation characteristics is analyzed based on eigenvalue analysis. Then transfer mechanism of subsynchronous oscillation components from AC side to DC side is analyzed based on the active power characteristic. A control strategy for suppressing the subsynchronous oscillation based on the improved control of the DC side chopper is proposed, and its effectiveness is validated by time-domain simulation.
