In this study, we developed a multifunctional wound dressing patch (MWDP) that helps to heal, protect, and monitor the wounds. The MWDP was fabricated by combining two layers namely wound healing support (WHS) layer and wound protection/monitoring (WP/M) layer. Each layer comprised micro- and nano-fibers fabricated via electrospinning. The WHS layer consisted of hyaluronic acid (HA), gelatin (GE), and dexpanthenol (DP), and designed to swifter heal the wound by each components: they can help to regeneration of extracellular matrix (ECM) and fibroblast cell. Furthermore, the WP/M layer consisted of curcumin-contained polycaprolactone (C-PCL), and designed to protect and monitor the wound: C-PCL protects the wound against microbial influence. C-PCL mange wound state, by monitoring pH of wound lesion by color change. The synergy of these functions shows swift wound healing results (in 12 days), superior antimicrobial properties, and wound monitoring for advanced wound care. The multifunctional wound dressing patch is expected to promote wound healing and to monitor wound state, facilitating convenient wound management for the patients.
