The article proposes the use of surgical simulators for training physicians in developing countries. Topics covered include information on virtual temporal bone system developed at The Ohio State University and Nationwide Children's Hospital, and a recent project involving the use of low cost and portable computer based surgical simulator for teaching temporal bone surgery in Nicaragua.
