Presents a study that used degenerate four-wave mixing with femtosecond time resolution to measure the magnitude and transient response of a third-order nonlinear optical susceptibility in nonoriented conducting polymers including polydiacetylene. Characterization of optical nonlinearities; Use of a degenerate four-wave mixing in a folded box coherent anti-Stokes Raman spectroscopy configuration; Measurement of the resulting diffracted-beam intensity.
