Magnetic abrasive finishing (MAF) is one of the advanced finishing technique in which a surface roughness is finished by removing the material in the form of microchips by abrasive particles. In this paper, magnetic abrasive finishing (MAF) process refers to using iron particles (Fe#200) mixed with an abrasive to apply the machining force through manipulation of the particles with a magnetic field. In this research, Al 6063 pipe was used as the workpiece due to the required in use. Recently, Al 6063 has been widely used in architectural applications, semiconductor industry, electricity industry and it is also used for gas transmission pipeline. In this research, the internal surface of Al 6063 was finished through new improved mini lathe, which can rotate from 0 to 2,500 rpm. The best experimental condition was be found by using four methods, this material was finished using magnetic abrasive finishing (MAF) process in some different methods such as in different rotational speed, in different magnet shapes, and in different pole arrangements such as N-Single, N-S 90°, N-S 180°, and N-S-N. According to the best result, it is shown that when Al 6063 pipe was finished with N-S-N pole arrangements at 1,600 rpm, the value of surface roughness Ra could improve from 0.35 μm to 0.04 μm and the value of Ry could improve from 2.70 μm to 0.40 μm in a only few minutes. The removal weight, changes of surface roughness, and the temperature of the workpiece during process also were investigated.
