Due to the presence of many cables and equipment interfaces, dc microgrid is prone to dc arc faults. In this paper, the arc fault model in dc microgrid is built in MATLAB/Simulink to discuss the situations of series and parallel arc faults at various locations. Searching the impact of the DC/DC converters and cables on the characteristics and propagation of arc signals by analyzing the waveforms of arc current in time and frequency domain. And the influence provides references for the detection and location of arc faults in dc microgrids.
