This paper proposes a method to develop and optimize a proper cooling channel for a power module used in high-power three-phase inverters for electrified vehicles. Specifically, the cooling plate and the channel are designed by using steady-state 3D-computational-fluid-dynamic (CFD) tool. Subsequently, an optimization tool with dedicated algorithms is used to define the optimal layout, pin-fins and channel's geometry in terms of inlet vs outlet pressure drop and power chip's thermal performances. The simulations were performed using OptiSlang tool provided by Ansys.
