The main goal of the paper aims to investigate, develop and test experimentally a self optimal reconfigurable Power Line Communications Network (PLCN) that constitutes the power metering infrastructure of an electrical distribution grid. A solution based on optimization algorithm that offers the optimal configuration of the system on providing reliable field data acquisition related to the energy consumption in special requirements consumers is proposed and developed in the paper. Experimental results and discussions regarding the proposed optimization model are also presented along with conclusions and best practices recommendations that are also included.
