This paper proposes a novel mixed inductive and capacitive wireless power transfer system to improve misalignment performance. This system is a mixture of the dual-coupled LCC-Compensated IPT system with the LCLC-Compensated CPT system and the output power of the mixed system is the summation of the CPT and IPT system. The IPT coupler is consist of two magnetic couplers, in which one coupler is the main coil and the second coupler is the coupled compensation inductors, and the CPT coupler is a four-plate capacitive coupler. A 3 kW WPT system is designed and the air-gap distance is 150mm. When the CPT coupler and IPT coupler have 20cm misalignment, this system achieves 2 kW as output power which is 66.7% of the well-aligned value. Comparing the obtained results with the previous mixed IPT and CPT system, show a 31% improvement in the output power when the CPT coupler and the IPT coupler have 20cm misalignment. Ansys Maxwell software is utilized to design the inductive coupler and capacitive coupler, and the fundamental harmonics approximation (FHA) is utilized for analyzing the circuit working principle.
