This article discusses a study on the use of a range of inflammatory proteins as biomarkers of disease activity in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA). The study employed partial least-squares discriminant analysis to examine the utility of a subset of proteins as predictors of RA activity. It revealed 25 differentially expressed proteins in plasma samples from the patients.
