Essential oils (EOs) from Melaleuca cajuputi leaves have chemotypes and local distribution influences its chemical composition. This paper reports chemical constituents of cajuputi oils obtained from Lektama village, South Buru District. The EOs isolated by steam distillation and identification of structure by GC-MS. The cajuputi oils (COs) produced from this area have been identified as ten components. These oils contained a significant amount of oxygenated monoterpenoids (72.3%), monoterpene hydrocarbons (17.81%), and sesquiterpene hydrocarbons (9.89%). Oxygenated monoterpenoid was the most abundant component in the sample. We found the a-terpinyl as a precursor of cyclic monoterpenes in cajuputi oils from Lektama. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
